Hormone Imbalance Can Be Treated

Hormone imbalance affects many women - and there is often something which can be done about it with herbs.

One of the top herbs for hormone imbalance is Agnus Castus. This herb is often used for monthly periods. It is also often used by women going through menopause - very successfully.

Try taking 2 capsules, or 40-50 drops of a Fluid Extract, before breakfast.

Dong Quai is another fine of use by women. This herb is from the Eastern tradition. Dong Quai is one of the most popular herbs for women in China.

Too many women suffer period pains and discomfort when they needn't do so, if only they would try herbs. Sadly, doctors don't recognize the value of herbs in many such cases. Otherwise they would be recommending herbs much of the time.

Herbs have been used for very many years for treating hormone imbalance. There is a good reason for this - they work!.

Help The Liver To Work Well - with Herbal Supplements

Helping the liver to work properly is a vital part of keeping well.

The liver removes any damaging molecules in the blood, and also breaks down damaged or old body cells.

The damaging particles include toxins both from outside the body and from within

Those on the outside are pesticide and fertilizer residues from non-organic food, for example, as well as chemicals released from the environment - for example from paint drying or preservatives in all wood used today. It also includes chemicals applied to the skin from makeup or hand cream etc. Some particles will cross into the body and pass into the blood. Hence, using very high quality cosmetics and soaps from health food shops is a great idea.

Those within include those produced naturally by the body as the cells work; and also those produced because of poor body function. For example, many dangerous chemicals have been identified in the colon, due to petrefaction - caused by food waste remaining in the bowel for much too long.

Liver Herbs Really Do Help

To help to the liver to deal with these problems it needs to be kept working well. A great way to do this are by using herbs which have centuries of use behind them. There are many herbal Liver medicines and remedies which can be very effective.

Many people have heard of Milk Thistle which is known for helping the liver. It is well known for being a safe way to help repair any liver damage which may be present.

To better improve the detoxification capabilities of the of the liver, use a comprehensive Liver Cleansing Programme, containing herbal remedies aimed at the liver directly.

Finally, there are effective herbal teas for the liver. If you like herb teas, this is an approach which will suit you. If not: perhaps you can get to like them - they are really good for you. There are many teas which help different parts of the body - for sleeping, digestion, soothing the stomach (great for IBS - irritable bowel syndrome), the immune system, the lungs, the kidneys and bladder (cystitis), and for many other purposes.

Herbs can be great for helping the liver - and most other parts of the body.

Detox Value Questioned

News is in of more criticism of alternative medicine; this time, detox.

The BBC has reported that detox diets are a complete waste of money, a scientific organization reviewed 15 products.

By 2011 herbalist manufacturers will not even be able to say something benign like: 'such and such a herb may help the liver to function better' even when herbalists have been using it to do so, and observing the results, for centuries.

Now, the observations of practitioners, also over centuries, of patients undergoing detox treatments is being questioned.

The Benefits of Detox

There is no doubt that many people feel distinctly better after carrying out a detox. That is not to say that every product with 'detox' written on it is necessarily beneficial; but neither is it true to say that none of them work. You cannot tar all detoxes with the same brush.

Colon Detox

Detox, or 'cleansing', treatments for the colon certainly have a beneficial effect on health for many people. Many highly respected therapists who have spent a lifetime treating patients have stated that 'disease starts in the colon', because they have seen such fantastic results when the colon is cleared out. There is also plenty of evidence of horrible 'gunk' coming out of the colon which should not be in there. One Guardian reporter who went for a colon cleanse passed a marble out of the bowel during a cleanse which he remembered swallowing 25 years previously!

Food waste stored in the colon for too long will putrefy. No doubt some of the toxins caused by this process can be absorbed into the blood vessels of the colon and circulated. As the majority of people do not have bowel movements as often as they eat (2-3 times a day) then the process of 'storing waste matter for too long' clearly applies to all these people. Colon Detox (colon cleansing) can establish, or re-establish, this healthy frequency of 2-3 times a day.

Liver Detox

The liver is behind many illnesses. Ask any Chinese therapist relying on 5000 years of Chinese research and observation. Detox - or 'cleanse' - the liver with herbs, for example - and you can see a fantastic result on those ailments. Detox of the liver - liver cleanse - is often most effective for health.

Kidney Detox

The kidneys are the other major organ of the body which are involved in detox. A very satisfactory kidney detox - or kidney cleanse - can be achieved directly by using herbs which benefit the kidneys and bladder.

All three organs - colon, liver and kidneys - can be detoxed at one time using a general detox herbal treatment. This will not have such a strong effect on each of the individual organs as a detox 'just for them' - but sometimes a more general detox is desirable. And, as it can be carried out for a period of up to 90 days, quite a thorough job will then have be done.

Detox will work best against the background of a good lifestyle, especially as regards diet, exercise, and getting sufficient rest.

Diet and Detox

A good diet means reducing on meat and dairy eaten; and increasing the proportion of vegetables and salads and fruit. This increases the amount of nutrients in the diet which the body needs to work at its best. Generally we all eat too much starchy food - wheat, potatoes, rices, pasta - and this should be reduced.

A '3 day juice fast' is a specialized diet which is a great way for most people to detox quite quickly. To do the juice fast, simply drink several litres of juice a day, sipping it all day long. Also, drink extra water so you don't dehydrate. This gives the digestion a massive rest, as juices are easy to digest compared to solid food. This gives the body spare energy to carry out healing and cleansing which would otherwise not get done. (This is safe for any healthy adult. Consult your doctor before any fasting if you are ill, or if you are taking drugs.)

Exercise and Lifestyle

Another important lifestyle component is exercise.

Exercise several times a week for your heart and circulation. This type of exercise will get the heart beating rapidly and maintain the fast beating for at least 20 minutes. Swimming, rowing, singles tennis are good examples of this. (Running or jogging are good too - but damage the knees long term.) Tennis doubles is not such good exercise because of the relatively long rests between points. One of the best exercises for the heart is simply walking. A half hour walk a day is great in this respect.

The other type of exercise you need is muscle building. Over the age of about 35, muscle bulk starts to reduce. To maintain muscle function and strength as you age, muscle strength exercises are essential. They also keep testosterone levels up for men, which has positive health effects.

Detox Is Good For You

Try detox out for yourself before deciding whether it is for you or not. There is a good reason why it has been used for centuries - it is because it is often helpful. Over the years our organs start slowing down and becoming less efficient. Detoxing gives the body a chance to improve the function of our major organs, and help restore our health and energy to what it was.

Time for Detox

January is the time that many people think of having a detox for health

Great idea - the time for 'new starts' and new year's resolutions. Get cracking while you are feeling keen.

First of all, diet is a good place to focus. You probably know to cut down on meat, especially red meat; to eat fish 2-3 times a week, especially oily fish; to cut down on dairy food; and to increase salads and vegetables and fruit. .

Another good point is to cut down on starchy food - bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, as too much starch is bad for our health in many ways.

Detox with the Help of Herbs

At this time it is wise to supplement your dietary efforts by using herbs for detox. You can use herbal supplements for a detox in general: or you can treat the particular detox organs and go for detox for the colon, a liver detox or detox for the kidneys and bladder. An immune system detox is also an option, as the immune system is a major factor in helping us rid ourselves of toxins.

It is also vital to make sure that you get sufficient rest and also enough exercise. Gentle walking is good exercise; the main thing is not to overdo it. Rest if you feel tired. After your detox you can return to more 'full on' exercise.
